students were to animate 4 "equal sized" black squares to express three words and transition into the next. my words are increase, order, and playful, in that order. the entire movie starts and ends with a blank white screen. with this project i became a motion designer and studied how motion can create meaning. the words should not be communicated through one frame, but through the motion of the movie.
this was one of my class's first exercises with Adobe After Effects. the students used different effects on each square to begin to understand what kind of motion we can produce with such a program. we were given a similar movie and asked to recreate it. this is what i came up with.
to promote an imaginary gallery exhibition, each student was to design an 18 x 24 inch poster based on the meaning of a word. my word "mnemonic" deals with memory aid, ways to learn and remember. after a detailed methodology, including making sample studies, having group discussions and critiques, this is the poster i ended up with.
